I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. At school in Darjeeling, India, we painted in watercolour and gouache. Our work was submitted to the Royal Academy of Drawing in London, England and I still have Honour Certificates from the Academy, the first one was when I was 10 years old.
I took workshops in Life Drawing and Oil Painting when I was seventeen after which I wanted to take up art as a career unfortunately my godmother a Master Weaver painted such a depressing picture of the life of an artist that I didn’t pursue a career in art even though I was accepted at The Slade School of Fine Art and St. Martins College of Art in London England.

The River (main page), The Meadow (above) and The Window Box (right) are all acrylic paintings. |
I started painting again when I retired and now love to try various differing media from Acrylics, watercolour, silk screen and watercolour mono prints. I enjoy a challenge of trying new projects from egg tempera, collage, card making and now I have fallen for Glass Fusion after one workshop in Barrie.
I have sold my work in High Park, Bronte, Oakville, Bracebridge and Huntsville at various art shows. A door that I painted for a fundraiser in Bala for the Muskoka Heritage Open Door event in 2007 entitled “The Outhouse” is being used as the door to the downstairs washroom in the purchaser’s home!
I am a strong believer in challenging myself, and paint for the joy of creation.
